Where the Sand Meets the Sea

Sometimes I wonder why we flock to the the beach during the hottest days of the year. We say to cool off but do we really get refreshed from staying in that sun-filled area called the beach? But that's not really it, right? It's the people we go with and the camaraderie that we experience when we're with them. It's the break we get from our monotonous lives. We pack our things and leave the cold stone houses we live in and bask in the beauty of nature. For a few days, we drop our routines - work, school, or otherwise - to spend time with people we love.

Kids enjoying the sun, the sand and the sea.

Swimming in the beach does not appeal to me that much as it did before. But lounging under the shade of a big tree or inside a nipa hut does. Give me a book to read or a companion to talk to plus some chips on the side and I'm good.

The light inside our hut resembles a pupa. I feel like a beautiful butterfly is going to come out of it soon.

Beautiful tree lights to illuminate the place at night.

Sunrise at the beach is always a sight to behold.

Time to say goodbye. 'Til next time...

Concha's Garden Cafe

I've been to Concha's Garden Cafe thrice -- once in their Tagaytay branch and twice in their Quezon City branch. So I guess that goes to show that I enjoy dining there.

The Tagaytay branch has a cozy feel because of its size and it has a beautiful view of the Taal Lake.

The Quezon City branch, on the other hand, is a lot bigger in size but still has a homey feel to it. It can accommodate bigger groups and has 4 function rooms for private affairs.
One amusing thing about this resto is that they do not have uniform plates. Their plates have different designs and it's kind of fun, especially for kids, to choose the plate they prefer to use.

Homemade Okoy P180

It took 3 visits before I was finally able to have this dish as it's one of their bestsellers. And it did not disappoint. I love that it's thin and crispy. You can eat it as it is or dip it in the vinegar-based sauce that comes with it. I am looking forward to having this again soon.

Mango Kaani Salad P250

Simply love it.

Conchas Laoya P600

The Laoya dish is also one of their signature dishes. It is like bulalo but sweeter. Personally. I am not so crazy about this dish because of its sweetness but still a good one.

Sisig (Capampangan) P280

I am a big fan of sisig but I like my sisg dry and crunchy. The Conchas sisig is neither. It's still tasty and all but lacking the crunchiness that I love.

Pinakbet P250

What could possibly go wrong with Pinakbet? Nothing.

Adobong Pusit sa Gata P330

Yummy Pusit! Just don't forget to check your teeth before leaving.

Oriental Fried Chicken P250

Tasty chicken with sweet and sour sauce.

Pasta Ziti in Garlic P270

We're big pasta eaters and this makes it to our fave pasta dishes. Love the garlicky taste.

Concha's Kamoteng Turon P100

For the sweet tooth.

Leche Flan P180

Creamily yummy!

Chichapop P120

Our take home items which we consumed while watching the premiere episode of Destined To Be Yours.

The Sunday Currently Vol. 01

I came across this kind of post as far back as 2 years ago and I've always wanted to try it out but for some reason it never happened... until now.

Reading Wattpad fanfics featuring Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza. There are so many talented writers in the fandom (the AlDubnation) who create really interesting plots from fluffy to tearjerkers to SPGish stories. Maybe when I have more time, I'll list the ones I enjoyed the most and post it here.

Writing about my favorite romcom movies for a future post.

Listening to the soundtrack of La La Land and alternating it with the current hits on Spotify,

Thinking about what to cook for my son's lunch tomorrow.

Smelling nothing.

Wishing for more inspiration to write.

Hoping for a productive yet relaxing week ahead.

Wearing an olive green plaid shirt received as a gift. And since the giver is flying back to their home country in a few days, I decided to wear it to their despedida party today to show my appreciation.

Loving my family. It has been a family event filled weekend making me feel blessed to have them in my life.

Wanting a lot of things from the mundane like Alden and Maine bobbleheads to the more serious ones like learning or better yet re-learning how to drive so I can get around on my own. I already completed 2 driving courses but there was this one time that I almost crashed the car and that left me rattled. I have not driven since,

Needing some serious motivation to work out and be healthy.

Feeling bloated due to a binge eating weekend. Remember I mentioned that I had a family event filled weekend? Well, that involves food....lots of them. There was lechon, kare-kare, dinuguan and sweets of all kinds such as ice cream, sans rival, etc.

So that's it for now. 'Til next Sunday...

Fab Feb

Next to December, February is my second favorite month of the year and here's a few of the reasons  why...

It's My Birthday!
The moment February 1 comes, there's always that inexplicable feeling that something good is coming my way. I look forward to our family gatherings on occasions like this because it gives us permission to eat out and be merry.  Be it at home or in a fancy restaurant these 2 elements (family + good food) make birthdays memorable and meaningful. I already have an idea where we'll go this year and I'm excited to take them there.

89th Academy Awards

I have been watching/following the results of the Academy Awards since I don't know, high school? Or maybe college. I am curious which movies gets the Academy's nod which in turn prompts me to watch it. Plus the glitz and glamour that goes with the annual ceremony is also fascinating to watch. I have no favorites this year as I have only seen one out of the nine movies nominated for Best Picture. I'm a bit of a sucker for musicals so one Saturday a few weeks ago I asked hubby if we could see La La Land. It did not disappoint. Well, the ending was (SPOILER ALERT) a downer but overall it was good. I love the music and it is now in my current playlist in Spotify.

Destined To Be Yours
Fan Arts by @hxddles@MaiChardEdits
Yes, I am one of them - ADN/AlDubdation. But I am more of the quiet supporter on the sidelines, the lurker in social media and online forums. I prefer to fangirl peacefully in my little corner of the nation. And as any And as any ADN (inactive I may be), I am excited to see my favorite couple in their first teleserye and see them regularly on primetime TV starting this month.

So there you go. Those are 3 of the things that I am excited about on my birth month. By the end of this Fab Feb I will be a year older and hopefully a year wiser, too.
