Last Day of School

Another school year over. Hay, my Miguel survived three school years already! One in a traditional school  and two years in Kolisko Waldorf School

His one-year stint in a traditional school was a big mistake that I blogged about here in July 2010. Kolisko has helped a lot in changing Miguel's concept of school. These days he enjoys school so much that every time he wakes up in morning he asks, "Mommy, may pasok ba ko?". If I say yes, he replies, "Yehey!". Otherwise, he says, "Aaay. (sad face) Bakit?"

Once, his Lola (granny) asked him what they do in school and his reply was, "Laro, kain, tulog". So is it really any surprise that he enjoys school so much?

Today was their last day and they had a mini feast which they shared with the parents. It was a potluck affair of pancit from Mushroom Burger, puto from Goldilocks Bakeshop and puto't kutsinta from Calasiao. The kids looked cute while they ate their food in their kiddie size dinner table.

Then they played ball outside.

After playing, they went back to their classroom to change clothes and freshen up. Then they had their class picture taken.

2nd version: with the parents (mostly the moms)

Then it was time for goodbyes. Their teachers gave each one of them a knitted bonnet which they made themselves. It was really nice.

The future: Miguel is one of his class' four candidates for Grade 1 next year. He had his assessment test earlier this week and we are still awaiting for the results. We were told that we would be informed of the result after Holy Week. So we're keeping our fingers crossed. If he passed, then he will be stepping up in a new level of learning. Otherwise, he will be staying for another year in Bahay-bahayan class. He's only 6 after all.

Until then, let the summer vacation begin....

  1. Last day of school at Kolisko pulls heartstrings! It's amazing how the kids grow up so fast! How I wish Happy stayed a bit longer in preschool when she was 6 :)

  2. Miguel is funny and wise! "Laro, kain, tulog" are the foundations for reading, math and abstract thinking. Kids have the wisdom to know what's good for them at the right age and we can see this by their excitement to go to school or not. Enjoy childhood!
